As part of the Rural Development Programme 2014-2020 the Welsh Government have been promoting the agricultural industry with a scheme to offer business grants to farmers operating in Wales. The grant offers a 40% contribution towards the purchase of equipment and machinery which have been pre-identified to offer ‘clear and quantifiable benefits to your farm enterprise’.

Through the grant, the Welsh Government is offering to provide a minimum of £3,000 and a maximum of £12,000 towards the costs of agricultural products. This makes the total value of the products purchased between £7,500 and £30,000.

Bunded Fuel Tanks

Bunded diesel fuel tanks have been identified as offering tangible benefits to the farm for many reasons. Storing white diesel onsite allows farmers to achieve lower diesel prices by bulk-buying fuel. Onsite storage also enables efficient fuel refilling by avoiding journeys to public fuel stations. Due to laws restricting the use of red diesel on public roads, red diesel tanks are also a necessity in the trade. You can find out more about diesel storage, including how to get the best price on diesel, by checking out our Expert Guide to Diesel Storage.

Our bunded diesel tanks are manufactured in plastic polyethylene in capacities from 1,350 to 15,000 litres, or mild steel in capacities from 5,000 to 100,000 litres as standard. Our standard tank range have a variety of optional extras and we can manufacture tanks to meet your site’s exact requirements.

Rainwater Harvesting Tanks

Rainwater harvesting tanks combined with rainwater filtering equipment have also been identified by the Welsh Government for their capacity to provide quantifiable benefits to the far. Water usage within the agricultural industry is higher than in any other sector. Rainwater harvesting provides a free source of water and has numerous additional benefits such as water attenuation. For more info, including how much rainwater you can harvest, view our Expert Guide to Rainwater Harvesting Tanks.

Our water tanks are manufactured from polyethylene and are available in capacities from 1,350 to 20,000 litres as standard. A range of filters and pumps are also available for different roof sizes and site requirements.

Changes to Oil Storage Regs in Wales

This grant also comes at an opportune time for the remaining few farmers who haven’t yet changed their single skin fuel tanks for a bunded tank. In March 2016 Oil Storage Regulations Wales announced stricter requirements for storing oil (including diesel). From 15 March 2020, all oil storage containers in Wales used for commercial purposes and with a capacity of more than 200 litres must legally have secondary containment (a bund) or risk fines of up to £5,000. You can find out more by reading our post Oil Storage Regulations Wales – Beat the Deadline.
