We’re delighted to welcome a new member to our team this month and bring you news of a promotion for one of our production crew.

Promotion for Nick

Nick Haley

Nick Haley is our new Plastic Factory Supervisor. Nick has worked in our plastic weld mezzanine factory for the last 15 months, but has now been promoted to this new role in the Plastic Tank factory.

Nick helps to organise the workflow with the production planners and is also responsible for quality control. In addition, he assists with the planning and management of stock levels to keep our plastic tanks cooking in the oven and on time for delivery to our customers.

Nick is relishing his new role. “Every week we produce up to 30 small, large and smart tanks, so it’s a busy factory. I’m fortunate to work with a great team with years of knowledge and experience in tank production,” he added.

HR Manager Kerry Shenton was also delighted with Nick’s progress. “We always look to promote from within where we can and it’s very satisfying to give our employees the opportunity to progress their careers at Tuffa. It’s good for us too, as we keep that experience in our team,” she said.

Nick used to enjoy off-roading in a Land Rover in his spare time, but since the arrival of a 3 year old son and 8 month old daughter, any “spare time” has disappeared… Nick’s swapped his off-roading for bath time and a bedtime story!

Mark in the Yard

Meet Mark Jones, our new Yard Foreman. Mark lives in Uttoxeter and joined Tuffa after 13 years at a nationwide chain of builder’s merchants.  Mark organises the yard co-ordinating the tanks going out and deliveries coming in. Even in the short time he has been with us, the yard is looking tidier and better organised.

Mark was pleased with his move to Tuffa. “It’s great to be part of a local family business and I’m enjoying working with the team here. It’s a friendly, hard-working environment and we all work well together to get the tanks out and the job done.”

Outside work, Mark can be found looking for buried treasure with his metal detector. He’s had some success, finding several coins from the 15th century as well as a rare Elizabethan silver artefact that is now displayed in the Derby Museum and Art Gallery.
